The real Australia Post addresses

Australia Post's own sites end in:

  • auspost.com.au

Read the address up to the first single slash: it must end with one of these. An extra word, a different ending or a shortened link means it is not Australia Post, however real the page looks. When in doubt, type the address yourself or use the Australia Post app.

What fake Australia Post messages look like

  • Texts asking you to click a link to fix a delivery issue or pay a delivery fee
  • iMessage or RCS texts from a 'driver' who couldn't find a safe place for your parcel
  • Messages asking you to reply 'Y' so their links get past your phone's protections

What Australia Post says

  • Australia Post will never call, text or email asking for passwords, card details or account information, or to request payment.
  • Never reply to the message.
  • Use the AusPost app for genuine delivery notifications.

How to report a Australia Post scam

  1. Tell Australia Post. Send the email, invoice or a screenshot of the text: [email protected]. Or: IDCARE, if you think you have fallen victim: 1800 595 160.
  2. Get the fake site taken down. Scan the link: the report names the company hosting it and the registrar of its domain, with a ready-written message for each.
  3. Put a warning in front of everyone else. Report the link to Google Safe Browsing and Microsoft SmartScreen.
  4. If you lost money or shared details, call your bank first, then report it to the police or your national fraud line. Where to report in your country.
