How to report a phishing site to Wix

To report a phishing or scam site to Wix, email [email protected] or use Wix's report abuse: phishing or spam.

Wix describes itself as a website builder and domain registrar: people can build a website on Wix, register a domain name with Wix, or both. This page covers scam sites built and hosted on Wix.

Wix says that because websites and domains are created by individual users, it cannot control what they publish. It does accept reports about inappropriate content on any Wix website or on a domain registered by Wix, and says it investigates all of them.

Wix itself is often impersonated. Its phishing help article covers both fake sites built with Wix and fake emails pretending to come from Wix, and the two are reported in different ways.

Reporting to Wix, step by step

For a phishing or scam site built with Wix, go to Wix's Abuse & Rights Infringement Reporting page at wix.com/abuse.
Under "Phishing or Spam", press "Send a Report". This opens a Wix support chat that takes your report.
Wix's phishing help article says that if you think you were targeted by a phishing attack from a site built with Wix, you should let Wix know immediately through that form.
Note the ticket ID Wix creates for your report so you can follow its progress.
If what you received is a suspicious email pretending to come from Wix, do not click its links, open attachments or reply. Forward it to [email protected] with the full technical email headers.
If the suspicious message reached you through a Wix site's contact form or inbox, Wix says the content was written by a site owner or visitor, not by Wix. Report it as spam in Wix Inbox, or forward the notification email with headers to [email protected].

What Wix asks you to include

The address of the Wix site that is phishing you. Wix's article warns that scam sites often use a domain spelled very like the real one, so copy it exactly.
For a forwarded phishing email, Wix asks for the full technical email headers so it can trace where the message came from and stop it spreading.

What Wix can do

Wix's phishing help article says that once you report a phishing site built with Wix, "the suspicious site will be removed".
Wix says it investigates every report of alleged abuse or rights infringement on Wix websites and on domains registered by Wix.

What Wix cannot do

Wix says it is unable to control the content users publish or the domain names they choose, which is why it relies on reports.
Messages sent through Wix CRM tools, such as form notifications, are written by a Wix user or visitor. Wix only supplies the delivery system and sender address.

What happens after you report

Wix creates a unique ticket ID that can be used to track the report.
Wix says it works to resolve reports as soon as possible.
Forwarded phishing emails are used to investigate where the email came from and to stop it reaching other users.
Wix says processing normally takes 3 business days, but may vary from case to case.
